Santa Church of God In Christ was founded in 1983 by Pastor George Brooks, Sr. The Church was founded after a merger of Bethel and Unity Church of God In Christ. The Church has since grown and has been an active mission for serving the community and spreading the word of God in Santa Barbara and sorrounding cities.

The Church currently airs a broadcast program on Santa Barbara public television on Channel 17 and in Lompoc, CA on channel 25. Click here to check when the show airs in your area.

Pastor Brooks was born in Metcalfe, Mississipi in 1944. He graduated from Mickens High School in Dade City, FL and then proceeded to recieve his AA from Santa Barbara City College and his BA in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara.


He accepted Christ in 1961 while attending a Revival in Dade City, FL. After his accepting Christ he felt the call of God to server and join in Ministry for the Church of God in Christ. He Pastored under the tutelage of Bishop Robert Benbow upon moving to Santa Monica, CA. After moving to Santa Barbara, CA top assist Bishop Benbow pastor the New Light Church of God in Christ for 10 years in 1969 he founded the Holy Spirit Church of God in Christ which later became Bethel Church of God in Christ.


Pastor Brooks is currently the Suprintendent for the Church of God in Christ Santa Barbara district which has three member churches: Community Mission Bible Church of God In Christ, Matthew Outreach Church of God In Christ and Bethel Church of God In Christ.
